OSHPD OPM Pre-Approved Seismic Bracing Solutions and Engineering Guidelines for Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems

OSHPD OPM Pre-approved seismic bracing solutions and engineering guildelines

Our OSHPD OPM-0052-13 pre-approval features TOLCO seismic products and B-Line series products for California Building Code 2013 and 2016, and International Building Code 2012 and 2015. Utilize our pre-approved seismic engineering guidelines to assist with your next project design, bracing layout, and submittal package for piping, ducts, conduits, cable trays and other systems. TOLCO seismic engineers helped to develop OPM testing methods with OSHPD and is the only pre-approval to include cable tray hold down clamps.

Reduce project review time

Eaton is known for its time and labor-saving TOLCO seismic bracing and B-Line series strut, cable tray and pipe hangers. Now we have reduced the complexity and time to source, review, test and obtain OSHPD pre-approvals for seismic bracing systems. Our options include a wide variety of applications for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection that can help reduce your project review time for OSHPD and DSA for hospital, health facility, and education construction projects.

OSHPD OPM-0052-13 Engineering Guidelines

The seismic restraint engineering guidelines are reviewed and stamped by a Professional Engineer and can be used for all types of projects referencing the International Building Code. Section one of the guidelines walks through a step by step approach for seismic bracing calculations and layout for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. Industry practices, such as the 12" rule, are described in detail. The following sections include pre-stamped details for trapeze systems and single hung systems with rigid and cable bracing. Refer to the later sections for load data and installation digrams for structural attachments and special applications like wall mounts. Eaton's seismic engineering guidelines is detailed reference guide for contractors, design engineers, and AHJs to assist with sesimic bracing design.

Refer to Eaton’s OSHPD Pre-Approval guidelines for applications such as:

  • Solutions for attachment of TOLCO seismic bracing to single hung pipe utilizing B-Line series hangers
  • Attachment of TOLCO seismic bracing to B-Line series strut trapeze supported pipe, duct and cable tray
  • Options for concrete attachment, including poured in place and post installed anchors
  • Structural attachments to steel I-beam, bar joist, wood and concrete with TOLCO seismic bracing attachments, and pre-engineered solutions
