Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery

Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery (ORVR) is an emissions control system that captures fuel vapors from the gas tank during refueling and operation. ORVR systems have helped reduce refueling emissions from escaping the tank.

What is ORVR?

Onboard refueling vapor recovery is a vehicle emission control system that collects fuel vapor generated during a vehicle’s refueling process in order to burn it during normal operation.

ORVR helps reduces hydrocarbon emissions by approximately 95 percent during the vehicle refueling process.
