Since 1993, the Finnish National Opera and Ballet has operated at its current premises in the Helsinki Opera House. It attracts an audience of almost 300,000 people every year. The goal of the Finnish National Opera and Ballet is to offer unforgettable artistic experiences for its visitors. Therefore, the stage technology must work flawlessly during performances and rehearsals.
The old system had to be replaced and the new system of the Opera House had to be uniform.
When a performance is taking place, there are a lot of people on stage and inside the hall. The technical personnel are busy making sure the technology works flawlessly in all aspects to ensure a uninterrupted performance. The old UPS system was not well set-up and subsequently, it could take a long time to find the fault. All devices had to be supplied by the same supplier and comprehensive life cycle services and technical support must be available.

The new UPS system of the Opera House includes Eaton 93PS UPS devices and Eaton 9SX UPS devices of three efficiency levels as well as an additional set of batteries. The provided UPS devices include an external bypass switch which makes sure that power is not cut off even when the UPS does not work. The system has a comprehensive technical support and maintenance agreement.
