TriRivers is a healthcare information technology organization jointly sponsored by SwedishAmerican Health System in Rockford, Illinois and FHN (formerly Freeport Health Network) in Freeport, Illinois. TriRivers allows healthcare organizations to greatly reduce costs by sharing infrastructure, IT staff, technical services and data management capabilities.
Supporting over 5,000 users across more than 50 locations in Illinois and Wisconsin, TriRivers operates multiple data center locations, including a 33,000 square-foot hosting data center in Rockford, and a backup facility at FHN Memorial Hospital. A 300-mile fiber optic network connects the data centers and healthcare facilities, supported by TriRivers’ TriLightNET TeleHealth Communications.
To maintain a clean, reliable supply of power across its network, TriRivers turned to Eaton for a premium backup power system capable of safeguarding more than 1,000 mission-critical virtual servers within its data centers. It needed to be easy to maintain. Available 24/7. And, because the network handles electronic medical records, it had to be HIPPA-secure.

Central to the system is the Eaton 9390 uninterruptible power system (UPS), providing unmatched power performance, backup protection, efficiency and simple scalability. Eaton custom-engineered power distribution units and busway infrastructure complement the design enabling cost-effective expansion.
Eaton Managed ePDUs allow critical factors such as voltage, current and power to be monitored and controlled. Power loss can be proactively prevented. Power availability can be controlled so that the system reliably provides the availability needed to meet HIPAA compliance.
Intelligent Power Manager software enhances system oversight down to the device level to further optimize efficiency and power availability. Even the racks, with a unique locking system design, reinforce security.
