Texas-based Skyonic specializes in developing and retrofitting industrial plants to mineralize CO2 emissions and turn them into carbon-negative chemical products. The resulting solid carbonates and bicarbonates are safe for landfill storage or can be sold for use in the production of baking soda, hydrochloric acid and limestone. It’s a sustainable and remarkably affordable solution for industries constantly confronting stricter EPA regulations.
Retrofitting an existing cement facility to capture roughly 300,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually is Skyonic’s first full-scale project. Dubbed Capitol SkyMine, it’s the world’s first for-profit initiative of its kind. The ultimate proof point for Skyonic.

Eaton hit the ground running. Our power systems engineers understood the challenge. The high-density power distribution needs. The exacting quality, safety and performance codes for hazardous environments. The equipment size constraints. From design to install to commission, TTCL had our support.
Working closely with Skyonic and TTCL engineers, Eaton developed an innovative platform that would integrate switchgear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, battery backup, bus ducts, sub-distribution and lighting controls—all within a pre-fabricated enclosure. Pre-assembled and pre-tested, Eaton’s E-house arrived ready for installation. Simplifying power deployment, eliminating installation errors and cutting on-site coordination costs.
Eaton’s expertise in utility grade power and lighting was also a critical factor for success. Leveraging its broad portfolio, specially designed Cooper Power series transformers, street and office lighting solutions and Crouse-Hinds series hazardous area lighting were engineered to deliver maximum performance in the most hazardous conditions.
