Crouse-Hinds series lighting optics and robust design set the standard in the industry for effective light distribution and reliability.
When the customer needed a durable and cost-efficient lighting solution, they turned to Eaton to provide the best solution to meet their needs.
Challenge
Eliminate dark areas along pipeline walkways at a cryogenic processing plant.
Solution
Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds series Champ FMVA LED floodlights and Champ VMVL LED with Type 1 optics for harsh and hazardous locations.
Our team of professionals recommended Champ FMVA LED floodlights in open areas and Champ VMVL with Type I optics on walkways under the pipeline.
Champ VMVL Type I optics provided maximum illumination, leaving no gaps or dark spots. Plus, they provided an increased amount of foot candles, which resulted in a reduced amount of lights.
By using Champ lighting over the competition's option, the customer used 30% fewer fixtures to achieve the same illumination. This means - fewer fixtures to install and maintain, saving time and cost.
With 277 volts at 100 watts LED lighting instead of 480 volts at 400 watts HID lighting, the electrical load was lowered by 300% on lighting panels. This resulted in a saving of up to 22% cost in cabling, capacity and install/maintenance labor.
Champ fixtures are also Dark Sky Compliant fixtures which helps safe guarding the plant from any change in environmental regulations in the near future.
Overall, the the improved visibility helped provide a safer environment for plant employees.
Using lighting layouts provided by the Crouse-Hinds design team, Benchmark Electrical Solutions was able to reduce the proposed fixture count from the competitor by roughly 30 %. Download the full length white paper to learn more.
