Our 2030 sustainability targets
Doing business right and transparency
We will be more transparent in reporting our sustainability performance, disclosing our performance using rigorous and credible global standards. We will address key societal issues and will operate, as always, with integrity.
- Achieve best-in-class safety performance by improving our industry-leading safety metrics by more than 50%
- Ensure no human rights violations from our key suppliers
- Report our ESG (environment, social and governance) material issues using Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) requirements
- Disclose our U.S. minority and gender pay equity assurance results
Operational footprint
We will focus on mitigating climate change and optimizing use of resources.
- Reduce carbon emissions by 50% (target approved by Science Based Targets Initiative)
- Achieve carbon neutral operations
- Certify 100% of our manufacturing sites as zero waste-to-landfill
- Certify 10% of our manufacturing sites as zero water discharge
Customer solutions
We will help our customers achieve their sustainability goals and accelerate the development of solutions for near- and long-term impact.
- Reduce Scope 3 emissions throughout our value chain by 15% (target approved by Science Based Targets Initiative)
- We plan to invest more than $3 billion in sustainability research and development over the next 10 years
Employee development and engagement
We will utilize the ingenuity of our employees in solving sustainability challenges, and we will work to improve the communities in which we live and work.
- Maintain employee engagement scores of 80% or higher
- Provide 12 hours of training and development per employee each year
- Clock 250,000 hours of employee volunteer time each year

Setting science-based targets
We are committing to science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets consistent with the challenge presented to corporations by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change. Our targets have received the approval of the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
